The annual Wells-next-the-Sea Christmas Tide event to welcome in the 2011 festive season, which this year included a Central Park style outdoor ice-skating rink, was once again supported by Scira.
Local residents and visitors wrapped up warm to enjoy the synthetic ice-skating rink installed at the back of The Maltings, in the town centre.
Fran Marshall of the Wells Carnival Committee was grateful for the organisation's funding support for the event
"Reports are that it was the best Christmas Tide ever and the crowds welcoming Father Christmas were definitely the largest we have had. The skating rink proved to be a tremendous success and Father Christmas met almost 170 children in his two-and-a-half hours in town."
Scira General Manager, Einar Strømsvåg said that as one of the area's largest employers, Scira is eager to take part in relevant and worthwhile local community events and activities, such as the Christmas Tide, through sponsorship or support-in-kind.
"While we encourage community groups to apply for grants via the Sheringham Shoal Community Fund, there are some additional activities which fall outside of that scope and so we will assess them on relevance and merit and according to our budget availability," he added.
Other such recent sponsorships have included fundraising for the East of England Air Ambulance, support for two other Wells events - the Pirate Weekend and RNLI Charity Golf Day - assistance with some future safety training for the local police and a promise of funds to the local skate park on the proviso they raise additional monies themselves.
